In situ RT-PCR analysis of tissue microarrays. Slides containing up to 250 sections of 1 mm diameter, taken from prostate cancer biopsies, were subjected to in situ RT-PCR as described in Methods, using either spondin-2-specific oligonucleotide primers (i) or control 'scrambled' primers (ii). PCR prodcts were labelled by Immunogold with silver enhancement; after hematoxylin staining to highlight cell nuclei (n), sections were visualised by light microscopy at 40× magnification.
